David Spade helps Phoenix PD buy AR-15s
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081222/...le_david_spade
LOS ANGELES – The Phoenix Police Department has gotten some high-powered goodies courtesy of actor David Spade. The one-time Phoenix resident donated $100,000 so that the department can buy approximately 50 AR-15 rifles. Spade said he wanted to make the donation after seeing a TV news report about Phoenix officers having to buy their own rifles. Spade grew up in the Phoenix area and graduated from Arizona State University. Phoenix Police Sgt. Alan Hill says the rifles will be given to patrol officers and that the agency was grateful for the gifts. "These guys need to be able to do their jobs and I am just happy I could help," Spade said in a statement released by his publicist. I wonder what brand for $2000 each? |

Re: David Spade helps Phoenix PD buy AR-15s
I just heard on the news they were going to purchase 300 AR-15's.
They obviously have more money to spend than the $100,000. What in the Hell are they going to do with 300 AR-15's??? Is every patrol man going to have a sidearm, a shotgun and a AR-15?? |
Re: David Spade helps Phoenix PD buy AR-15s
Yes, because in real life, every officer NEEDS to have a pistol, shotgun, and AR15. The AR15's are needed for active shooters in schools. When you get an active shooter in a school, you can't always rely on the officers that happen to have AR15's, you need the ones that you got to be ready to go in that school and get that bastard! All it takes is 3-4 officers and it is a quickly set up thing to go in, and the lead officer needs that AR15. You don't have time to wait on SWAT and all that, you have little time.
I'm sorry but I am all for the cops having more weapons. Don't let the bad ones ruin it for the good ones that want to do the job! There are far more good cops out there than bad, and sometimes people let that one bad apple ruin their outlook on the good ones. It's the same reason that some people want to ban "assault" weapons, because one bad apple makes the rest of us "good" law abiding citizens look bad. |

Citizens can purchase AR-15's (at least for now) - then - why cannot police officers have an AR-15 ??? Or do you prefer a one-way street on this ? :confused_m: |
Re: David Spade helps Phoenix PD buy AR-15s
I think that cops should be allowed to have the same as citizens, and citizens should be allowed the same as the cops.
I am also against this police state that is rising up as we speak. |

Often there is an 'American Justice' program that runs on A & E. It deals with the BOA botched robbery in N. Hollywood by a guy named Phillips and his russian buddy. These guys had some serious armament and were wearing full body armor. They were also violent and had no regard for anyone, No regard whatsoever. Now, here you are...young cop on a beautiful sunny day. You respond to a BOA shots fired call and roll. You arrive to see one of the guys blowing away everything in sight with his full auto AK. At that point, your Glock and Wingmaster are just about worthless. All you can do is conceal yourself and decide that if the guys are getting busy (murdering civilians), you are going to have to charge (rush)them (with shotgun blazing) and probably die in the process. Not a very jolly picture. The hero of the day was the gun shop owner up the block who had many AK's (no full auto) and many CAR-15s. He armed many, many Officers that day and SAVED lives. At that particular time on that particular day, that gun shop owner was an ANGEL. David Spade just reached a high respect level today. |
Re: David Spade helps Phoenix PD buy AR-15s
It's sad that our police force has to come to where they need these guns, but the truth is, they do. They are outgunned now as it is. I'm all for allowing citizens to legally have as many guns as they wish, and am all for legal carrying of them. I agree that a legal carry state has a lot of it's crime dissapear. But, when there is some crazy nutcase opening fire in my childs school, I want the first officers that arrive on the scene to have all the firepower they need, not a lonely glock. Give them a good rifle and good scopes and good equipment, who is this hurting? When is the last time you heard of a cop doing bad with an AR15? I'm sure some smartass will do a search and find one to prove me wrong, but I bet I can get two searches where an armed active shooter is taken down with a rifle for every one someone returns of a cop doing bad with it.
And, for the ones that say it is coming out of OUR pockets, that isn't always the case. My local department(Louisville Metro Police, 1200+ officers) doesn't supply their guns, the officers have to purchase them themselves. Hell, they even have to buy their own Glocks! Most buy their own shotguns and AR's so they can better survive if and WHEN the SHTF! But, as it is clear here, there will ALWAYS be people that hate the police, no matter what. Cop could save your kid from an armed intruder and they will find something to nitpick about. Wake up. |

Might want to rethink that... You are basically saying that two guys who robbed a BOA had no regard for anyone? I want you to think about that for just a sec. As far as I'm concerned they were pretty damn nervy but utter failures when it came to tactics. They should have flanked the cops cars and wiped them out at close range instead of just standing there spraying. They had no strategy other than stand there and spray bullets. The only reason civilians had to be endangered is because of the widely held belief that protecting a worthless banks money is more important than the lives of civilians. They could have just let them drive off, what they were there for was pocket change. Probably more money in damage than they took for Crissakes. Fast forward today, is the bank's money still worth the life of a civilian or an officer for that matter? |

Nah, you have to understand the mindset of the highline burglar. They are like business people. The mindset is "I'm not going to jail.", they know exactly how much time they will get if caught and they decide they are not going in alive and that was obvious by the equipment they had. This type of heist is always premeditated, they don't give two sh*ts about bothering with your wife and kids. The reason they started shooting sprung from that mindset, you'll notice the one committed suicide, the other was severley wounded before he quit. They didn't plan to quit, they were following a plan that got interrupted by the cops. Your wife or kids had nothing to do with what they were doing until the cops started a shootout. How many people did they kill inside the bank? They were there for the money plain and simple. |

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_Hollywood_shootout Inside the bank, Phillips and Matasareanu forced the assistant manager to open the vault. They fired at least 100 rounds to scare the approximately 30 bank staff and customers[2] inside the bank to discourage resistance.[15] They were only able to get $303,305, instead of the expected $750,000 because the bank had altered the delivery schedule.[11] At 9:38 A.M. Phillips exited the bank through its north doorway and Matasareanu through its south doorway. Both encountered dozens of LAPD patrol officers who had arrived after the first-responding officers radioed a "shots fired" call. Wimps for sure... http://www.lapdonline.org/inside_the...sic_view/27320 |

Took dozens of them to take down two guys, I'll say. Most cops ain't much without the badge and the radio. |

That would be nice FOR ONCE IN OUR DAM LIVES.But it is a moot point. If a LEO got smoked by AK on Tuesday by Friday they will have grenade launchers strapped on their shiny new M-16's Dont worry about it being fair for The Fuzz.........they get what they need to do the deed. Our taxes dollars will see sure to that. T |

If I recall correctly, he did not have the police fill out the required federal forms for each gun they took. I believe at the time there was a waiting period of several days before the police should have been able to actually take possession of their new guns. The owner broke several federal and Californian gun laws. But I guess it's okay when the police do it, right? All sarcasm aside, yes the gun shop owner really was a hero. But few realize that by giving the police the weapons he had in stock, he was quite literally risking his business, his own freedom, and his life. He's very lucky some state or federal prosecutor didn't feel like getting their names in the news by prosecuting the owner even if he was helping the police in an emergency. |
Re: David Spade helps Phoenix PD buy AR-15s
Spade made a big mistake. That money should have gone to our numerous impoverished kids here in AZ anonymously like my wife and I do. We drove to to the high country from Payson which is not that far from our bugout home. Many more drove from Phoenix three hours to take their kids sledding in the snow. When we got up there (20minutes for us) there were cops all around ticketing people on this 20 year old sledding slope for parking on the side of the road. I asked the cop WTF was going on, he said due to budget cut backs they could not afford to plow the parking area. Instead he and another deputy stayed there for 5 hours each on overtime pay to bust children and their parents coming to play in the snow. I called him out and realized I was going to be tazed or cuffed in moments. So all these bad ass kids and their parents were forced off the mountain. Fuc them, Spade just made things worse that stupid prick. If you want to hand out AR15's give me one. I'll put it to good use if and when the time comes. Spade is off my list too. POS. These cops are stupid pricks. He was afraid of me. I should have organized all the parents and said 'NO' Like in Tombstone where Wyatt says "no, I'm not going to let you arrest us today" I'm gettin close, my wife had to back me off....

Re: David Spade helps Phoenix PD buy AR-15s
I think it's good that a actor did something that was out of the normal liberal play book. I am not sure what all of the anti cop stuff is all about. Yes I have gotten a ticket in the past (or four) and all but one experience was okay. Even the one guy that was a butthead really did not do anything that bad.
From my experience most cops (in the midwest) are very much pro gun including private ownership like us and NRA members. The bottom line is that police are necessary in an orderly country where the rule of law keeps things together. It seems some of us on this forum are basically advocating anarchy. If that's what you want maybe you should take a vacation to Somalia and see if that is really what you want. Go ahead and flame me, it's just my opinion. A working class stiff who has had his fair share of tickets.:confused_m: |
Re: David Spade helps Phoenix PD buy AR-15s
The cops don't need donations, our tax dollars pay for everything. If they needed Ar-15's they would have them already. **** David Spade.
